Summary
Swords to Plowshares seeks a senior-level People Resources Manager. This new position will report to the Director of People & Culture and, as part of the People & Culture department, will support the organization in all areas including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), cultural humility integration, employee well-being and culture, workforce improvement, employee relations, staff training and professional development, and HR policy development and compliance. This person works with the Director P&C to lead and manage HR practices through a DEI lens across the organization and ensures that our policies encourage productivity, strong employee morale, and a fair and equitable workplace. The person in this role must be passionate about Swords' commitment to cultural humility and supportive supervision. Under the direction of the Director P&C the Manager of People Resources will provide supportive supervision to the People Resources team, including working directly with outside consultants as needed.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in HR and DEI with experience working in a community-based setting, with staff from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. This position will play a key role in ensuring our organizational policies and practices are legally compliant, aligned with our DEI principles and practices and uphold our organizational values. A key and vital aspect of success in this position will be the ability to move initiatives and policies forward -through a DEI and CH lens- that support staff, ensure the health of the organization, and uphold our values and commitment to equity and inclusion.

Essential Responsibilities include:
General People Resources Administration
? Ensuring Swords' compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws (e.g., ADA, FMLA, compensation, benefits, employee relations, etc.).
? Be a resource for the People Generalist, managers, and employees on HR-DEI matters.
? Under the supportive guidance of the Director of People & Culture will review, implement, and oversee HR-DEI processes and policies (e.g., recruitment, on and offboarding, the employee handbook, document retention, employee relations, compensation, benefits).,
? HR reporting through a DEI lens as necessary.
? Assisting the Director of People & Culture and HR/DEI items in the annual financial audit.
? Evaluating Kronos (HRIS) for compatibility with Swords' HR needs.
? Special projects as necessary.
Culture & Human Relations
? Working with a People Generalist to manage employee relations, including employee conflict transformation/mediation, DEI intergroup dynamics, supporting Swords' leadership with team and individuals growth opportunities/issues, and acting as a coach or sounding board to any employee who needs one.
? Under the supportive guidance of the Director of People & Culture, will closely collaborate to ensure that issues are addressed in compliance with Swords' commitment to the principles of cultural humility and supportive supervision. Working with consultants and our employment attorney as necessary.
? Working with the Director of People & Culture to continuously evaluate and improve Swords' people and culture strategy.
? Assisting with exit interviews and evaluating turnover information to improve employee morale and retention.
? Develop a deep understanding of the principles of cultural humility and DEI initiatives.
? Be an advocate and champion for DEI and cultural humility at the organization
Recruitment & Onboarding
? Supporting efforts and processes to select, retain, and develop talent and expertise in staff.
? Working with People Generalist to implement and maintain an equitable, effective and comprehensive recruiting process that meets Swords' commitment to DEI across all areas of the organization. This will include evaluating where and how Swords' recruits and what we can do to improve inclusive and accessible outreach to candidates.
? Collaborating with the People and Culture team to create an equitable, comprehensive, useful, warm and welcoming onboarding process, covering introductions to Swords' departments, ongoing training, a buddy system, tours, necessary supplies, benefit enrollment, and regular check ins.
Compensation & Benefits
? Working closely with the Director of People & Culture, the COO and, as necessary, outside consultants, on compensation analysis and organizational and individual compensation changes
? Evaluating current benefits with People Generalist and Director of People & Culture to ensure that benefits meet employees' needs and align with Swords' commitment to equity. Suggesting changes, adjustments, and new benefits as appropriate.
Training & Learning
? Working with People Generalist and Director of People & Culture, to develop an organization-wide training, training calendar, and development program. This will include safety, harassment and discrimination, workers' compensation, career development, employee relations, recruiting, etc.
? Working with the Director of People and Culture and supervisors/managers to design a consistent and effective supervisory and coaching practice across the organization.
? Working with the Director of People and Culture in managing staff development opportunities and processes for the organization and individual staff. Helping to create learning and development programs that are person-centered, value-driven, and ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion.
? Developing and leading specific training as appropriate.
? Seeking out and evaluating partners for management and leadership training.
? Manage and collaborate with the Director of People and Culture on the annual employee performance appraisal process, including evaluating and updating current process, tracking completion of appraisals, and assisting managers, as needed, with appraisal drafts and difficult conversations. Identifying strengths and developmental needs that feed into individual and overall organizational learning agendas. Ensuring that the process meets employee and organizational goals.
Education/Experience
? At least 8 years' experience in human resources, preferably within a community-based nonprofit setting.
? 3 years supervisory experience and/ or demonstrated ability in coaching, leadership, employee development, and motivation.
? 2-3 years of hands-on organizational experience applying DEI or cultural humility practices, facilitation of concepts, intergroup mediation, initiative oversight or development
? Strong background in, and knowledge of, compensation and benefit administration, DEI concepts, performance management, employee relations, recruiting, and federal, state and local employment laws.
? Expertise and demonstrated commitment to workplace diversity, inclusion, and equity as well as Swords' stated values and culture.
? College degree or HR certificate or advanced training preferred.

? Experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Experience with Kronos is preferred.
