This role is responsible for the initial deployment and the ongoing execution of data governance, stewardship, and access management for the People Team. In collaboration with the Chief Data & AI Office (CDAIO), this Leader will represent the People Team in rolling out the Enterprise-wide data policies, quality standards, access controls and ongoing stewardship responsibilities. Additionally, this Leader is responsible for guiding a team of data stewards to fulfill ongoing data management responsibilities, oversee data access/use controls, issue resolution, and provide input into compliance, monitoring and reporting functions. The success of the data management program will improve risk controls, process efficiency and build a data-driven culture within the People Team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Direct the development and implementation of data quality and governance strategies for the People Team and ensures its consistency with the Enterprise Data Governance framework
  • Manage performance of the team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance
  • Liaise with the People Team's Product Owners to create and maintain a People Data Catalog using process mapping to establish data lineage and certify appropriate data use.
  • Adopt Enterprise data management tools (e.g. Collibra and Securiti AI) to activate HR data domains
  • Define policies and controls to oversee access to People data and its appropriate use within TIAA and for external vendors
  • Lead the change management process to bring awareness and ownership of data stewardship responsibilities across the People Team
  • Oversee information security risk assessments and internal audits to build upon the existing capabilities
  • Oversee data issue management processes to ensure that data issues are captured, tracked and resolved in a timely manner, with appropriate escalation and status reporting as needed.
  • Lead improvement efforts to reduce complexity and inefficiency in current data management processes
  • Represent the People Team in Enterprise data governance initiatives

Base Pay Range: $193,100/yr. - $321,900/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
