Gear Up for an Epic Summer Internship!
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our team for the summer of 2024. As an intern in the People and Culture department, you'll have the chance to acquire valuable experience in the Learning and Development aspect of the department. This includes working with a Learning Management System and gaining exposure to the process of developing and improving training programs. You'll also be involved in some diverse projects that play a key role in our organization's success!
Responsibilities:

  • You will be working closely with our Learning Administrators and Learning Partners throughout the company to help support the creation of our new Learning Management System. With the goal of analyzing, revamping, and elevating our trainings across the company.
  • You will be in the backend of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Workday, a complex system, building out training programs.
  • Organization and attention to detail while moving through work at an efficient pace is crucial for this role.
  • Appropriately escalating concerns and system issues in timely manner to the Learning Administrator so they can be addressed without affecting deadlines.
  • Being proactive and never assuming you should already know something. Ask questions. Much of what you'll be doing will be brand new, and we know that's the case.
  • Working cross-functionally with other departments daily to ensure training materials are being updated and delivered to P&C on time.
  • Meeting prep and setup. You will be sitting in on meetings, responsible for the setup beforehand, meeting notes and follow up with action items.
  • Updating current SharePoint sites and systems to help our employee population utilize our learning resources.
  • Liaise with our in-house Videographer to ensure that new content is properly uploaded to the correct training programs.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited university or college.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and systems quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to think critically and confidently bring questions to the table.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Passion for active travel and Backroads' mission.

Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.
