As a HARPS SUD (Housing and Recovery through Peer Services Substance Use Disorder) Peer Support Specialist, you will draw on your personal experience with substance use services to provide invaluable Peer Support to clients on their journey to recovery. Collaborate with our team to advocate for client choice, self-determination, and decision-making in treatment, rehabilitation, and support service
Primary Responsibilities:
- Validate clients' experiences and provide guidance for active participation in their recovery.
- Promote hope and empowerment, helping clients attain recovery goals and maintain independence.
- Assist clients in finding and maintaining safe, affordable housing.
- Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, and coordination for daily living necessities.
- Offer referrals to job training, Supported Employment, and DVR.
- Provide mentoring, encouragement, and support on and off the job site.
- Provide ongoing assessment, skill teaching, and support for daily living activities.
- Assist clients in organizing household activities, personal hygiene, and grooming tasks.
- Assist in transitions from hospital to community, including medication management.
- Provide ongoing assessment and support for challenges such as substance abuse education and treatment.
