WHAT IS OHIO START?
The Ohio Sobriety Treatment and Reducing Trauma (START) Model is an evidence-informed child welfare led intervention for families that has been shown to improve outcomes for both parents and children. The goals of this program are to keep children safely with their parents whenever possible and to promote parental recovery and capacity to care for their children.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Ohio START Family Peer Mentor (FPM) serves families referred to children services due to child abuse or neglect and parental substance use. The FPM provides peer support to help families navigate through the child welfare and other systems while also providing hope and motivation to keep children safe and families together
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be in recovery, have lived-experience with the child welfare system, have at least a high school diploma or GED, and maintain a current driver’s license.
