An integrated member of the treatment team, The Peer Recovery Engagement Specialist assists in implementing assigned client's treatment/recovery plan through the provision of adjunctive case management services, education and peer support services. The Peer Recovery Engagement Specialist will work in a hybrid role to provide services to adolescent clients in person (on campus - Winter Springs, FL) and virtually via telehealth for youth admitted to IOP, PHP and RTC levels of care at The Grove, IMPOWER's Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program. 


 The starting pay for this position is $17.00 per hour with credit given for relative education and experience above what is required for the position. This position is part time non-exempt.



Essential Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Engage in relationship building with clients to establish rapport, as evidenced by empathetic and active listening and communicating in a non-judgmental manner. 
  • Serves as an active member of the client's treatment team, including participation in team meetings and treatment planning meetings. 
  • Assists clients in development of recovery plan, crisis plan, recognizing many pathways in recovery, accessing and advocating for recovery and community resources with the goal of transitioning from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance. 
  • Provides structured and scheduled, non-clinical but therapeutic activities (in person and via telehealth) that promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, preservation, and enhancement of community living skills
  • Provides education with focus on illness management, engagement in treatment, building positive supports within the community and building recovery skills. 
  • Implements and coordinates recovery plans for individual clients in assigned population group, including evaluation, consultation, education and follow-up services
  • Uses evidenced-based protocols such as MI to engage with clients and develop relationships and interactions that are client-centered and help clients explore and resolve ambivalence 
  • Serves as a role model for clients by sharing own recovery process and teaching effective coping techniques, mutual-aid and self-help strategies
  • Provides peer bridging, resourcing, service collaboration for individual clients as extension of care coordination services. Actively identify and support assertive linkage to community resources (i.e. recovery community, spiritual, social, mutual-aid, cultural, educational, vocational and other professional services) that support the individual's goals and interest. This will involve collaborative effort including the individual, staff and other relevant stakeholders
  • Maintains accurate, thorough records on all assigned cases and uses documentation to assist clients in evaluating progress and includes data tracking and entry in EMR
  • Uses evidenced-based protocols including WRAP and WHAM to assist clients in developing and progressing toward holistic health objectives
  • Informs supervisor and other members of treatment team as indicated, of issues/concerns related to individual clients
  • Complete required training courses within designated time frame to maintain certification and continuing education. Engage in professional development relative to recovery support services.
  • Maintains collaborative professional relationships with the client and all support team members (including approved family/DCF contacts), follows ethical standards of practice (e.g., confidentiality informed consent, etc.), and recognizes his or her own personal limitations.
  • Identify, monitor and diffuse crisis situations, discussing the incident with authorized staff and client(s), adjusting supports and the environment, and complying with regulations for reporting.
  • Maintains standards of confidentiality and ethical practice.
  • Completes all other tasks and duties as assigned or as needed to help drive The Grove and IMPOWER's vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values.
  • Abide by ethics, policies and procedures and professional standards of IMPOWER.


Requirements

Qualifications, Education, Experience:


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • State-certified peer support specialist training certificate required  (i.e. Peer Support Specialist Certification, Peer Support SUD specific trainings)
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in related position and must attest in writing to at least 1 year of recovery 
  • Successful background screenings through local law enforcement, Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement, and FBI
  • Valid drivers license and auto insurance, and successful motor vehicle driving record background check
  • Negative result from a multi panel drug screen
