We serve employers, treatment centers, first responders, veterans, and incarcerated individuals to address issues like stress management, anxiety, depression, substance use, and suicidal ideation before they reach a crisis point.
Youturn Health is seeking a dynamic and results-driven State or National Certified Peer Coach/Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our growing team.
Job Type:
● Full-Time, virtual
Essential Functions:
● Emotional Support: Drawing on training and lived experience, offer empathetic, non- judgmental support. Build a connection and create a safe and trusting environment for individuals to share their concerns.
● Goal Setting and Skill Building: Leverage motivational interviewing to help participants identify goals related to his/her well-being. Assist in the development of essential skills and coping strategies to manage challenges, problem solve, and create a plan of action.
● Advocacy and Navigation: Help participants and families navigate the complex behavioral health system by providing information and resources.
● Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to individuals experiencing a crisis by providing immediate support and implementing appropriate crisis intervention techniques and connecting people to emergency services, as needed.
● Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and progress made by participants. Document important information, interventions provided, goals set, and outcomes achieved.
● Manage a Caseload: Provide consistent and individualized care, supporting and contributing to the overall improvement of your participants’ wellbeing through consistent engagement and coaching best practices.
● Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills as a Peer Coach. Seek supervision and support from experienced professionals to ensure your own well-being and professional growth. *Youturn Health is an approved Continuing Education (CE) provider.
● Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
● Training and Certification: Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification issued by a state (or alternate credentialing authority if state of residence does not have a recognized certifying body) and must be able to obtain a National Peer Certification through NAADAC (or approved alternative) within 90 days of employment.
● Two years of recovery from lived-experience in substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders (self-attested).
● Education: High School diploma / GED required. BS / BA preferred.
● Lived Experience: Draw upon personal lived experiences to establish credibility, foster trust and empathize with individuals seeking support. (Construction work, justice system re-entry, veteran, SUD, and first responder lived experience a plus!)
● Alignment and Fidelity: Agreement with Assertive Community Engagement philosophy and a commitment to the Youturn Health mission and values.
● Self-awareness and Self-care: A strong sense of self-awareness of one’s own emotions, triggers, and well-being. A consistent and diligent self-care practice.
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
