REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

The RN provides direct care to Banyan Pediatric Care Centers children/individuals.
Such care is provided in accordance with all professional, state and federal requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Delivers competent and quality care in compliance with physician orders.
2. On-going observation and assessment of the individual's condition and needs.
3. Takes appropriate action based on patient assessment.
4. Documents all child/individual's care actions in an official record in response to medical needs.
5. Identifies in writing child/individual's responses to treatment, specifically those that are unusual or unexpected.
6. Monitors and interprets vital signs.
7. Administers medication and evaluates the child/individual’s response to treatment.
8. Prepares and administers feedings, as appropriate.
9. Administers respiratory treatments (oxygen therapy, CPT, oral/nasal and trach suctioning and pulse oximetry).
10. Provides personal hygiene assistance.
11. Monitors child/individual's I and O.
12. Assists, collaborates with the interdisciplinary health team with the development of a child/individual's plan of care.
13. Develops child/individual's goals and desired outcomes.
14. Establishes child/individual's care that is consistent with the medical plan provided by the physician.
15. Collaborates in the identification of child/individual's needs or problems.
16. Reinforces child/individual's and family education for care of the child/individual.
17. Intervenes as appropriate to prevent or reduce child/individual injury.
18. Provides interventions to foster normal development and psychosocial adaptation.
19. Maintains the privacy and supports the rights of children/individuals and their families related to their care.
20. Communicates effectively with the family and company staff to provide appropriate children/individual's information relevant to medical care.
21. Works in a collaborative manner with other health care personnel.
22. Provides information regarding availability and access to community resources.
23. Acts in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act while complying with company standards and guidelines.
24. Performs work in line with company mission and values.
25. Maintains appropriate professional credentials and accepts responsibility for professional development.
26. Transportation:
    1. Acts as a licensed medical escort to ensure the safe transportation of the child when assigned to the transportation vehicle;
    2. Conducts sound assessments and utilizes appropriate established guidelines; and
    3. Renders emergency medical care to children and infants based on assessment findings.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must have transportation to arrive on time to the Center.
2. Ability to stand, lift or assist in lifting the child/individual for skilled nursing care, feeding, changing, bathing and emergency response.
3. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat and generally demonstrate flexibility to meet the care needs of the child/individual.
4. Must be able to see with visual and listen with hearing acuity to appropriately monitor the individual and associated medical equipment.
5. Must have strength and manual dexterity, including grasping and manipulating small objects, to operate medical equipment appropriately.
6. Must be capable of responding to emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida, pursuant to Chapter 466, F.S.
2. Current certification in CPR
3. Evidence of negative TB skin test or chest x-ray; and
4. Satisfactory state specific criminal background check.
5. Preferred experience in pediatric acute care including management of feeding tubes, complex respiratory diagnoses and complex medical conditions.
