Pediatric Registered Nurses needed for PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers)

About The Role
This is a full-time or part-time position that offers flexible scheduling. The 5:30 am-7:00 pm hours are ideal to accommodate the various scheduling needs of patients and their families.
Job Description
Under the Director of Nursing's guidance, the RN staff nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in carrying out rehabilitation programming and activities for PPEC patients such as the development of social skills, development of daily living skills
- Provides personal care services to patients including oral hygiene, bathing and hair care as needed, nail care, diapering, and dressing
- Provides bed care to patients, repositioning, ambulating, and assisting with elimination needs. Moving to and from wheelchairs, etc.
- Administers medications to patients orally, intra-, or via feeding tube subcutaneously
- Monitors effects of medications records medication is given and patients' reactions
- Observe and monitor the movement and activities of patients in the PPEC
- Assists/reviews MAR monthly and as needed to ensure accuracy
TREATMENTS AND PROCEDURES
To ensure that patients are receiving the best quality of care, experience with the following conditions is REQUIRED:
- Experience in a pediatric care setting, preferably with medically complex patients
- Valid RN as issued by the Florida Board of Nursing
- CPR and First Aid certifications required
- Must be able to pass a Level II background check
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional time management and attention to detail
- Prompt documentation and reporting skills
- Knowledge of Registered nursing techniques and methods
- Knowledge of medications and treatments used in patient care
To ensure that patients are receiving the best quality of care, experience with the following conditions is REQUIRED
- Tube feeding
- Tracheostomy
- Wound care
- Neurological disorders (seizures are common in our patients)
- Oxygen dependence
- IV therapy
Experience With The Following Conditions Is Highly Desired
- Premature birth, post-discharge care
- Chronic lung disease care
- Feeding - suck/swallow
- Insulin-dependent diabetes?
- Failure to thrive - poor weight gain
- Immune deficiencies
- Renal failure
- Spina Bifida
- Pre/post organ transplant care
- Genetic disorders
- Rare disorders
- Post-surgical long/short-term care
- Colostomy /ileostomy care
