POSITION DESCRIPTION

Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares, administers, and documents medications and therapies according to established policy and procedures.
  2. Provides chemotherapy and/or biotherapy per orders as indicated for patient needs following organizational policy and procedures.
  3. Provides conscious sedation as indicated for procedural needs.
  4. Provide conscious sedation for patients receiving radiation off site in coordination with the C4K provider team.
  5. Performs patient assessments for medication administration which may include assessing pain level, medication reconciliation, performing a review of systems, assessing for adverse reactions, obtaining vital signs, checking height, checking weight, etc.
  6. Participates in Rapid Response Team assignment.
  7. Participates in organizational committees.
  8. Actively participates in annual review process.
  9. Communicates data and information to other members of the Health Care Team.
  10. Establishes interpersonal relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries
  11. Provides information and supporting teaching to patient and families.
  12. Completes all nursing documentation in a timely manner with attention to detail.
  13. Addresses nursing documentation corrections in a timely manner
  14. Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives, which includes participation in submitting and resolving Quality Improvement Reports.
  15. Completes assigned checklists and daily tasks as assigned.
  16. Participates in routine checks of crash carts, jump bag, sedation bag, IV carts and procedure rooms
  17. Ensures appropriate resources, equipment and supplies are available. Participates in daily responsibilities and clinic preparations.
  18. Participates in Triage Call assignment
  19. Directs patient care activities of other health care workers and ancillary personnel in accordance with the scope of their practice and organizational policy.
  20. Assists in the orientation and precepting of team members and students.
  21. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  22. Abides by organizational policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The Pediatric RN is responsible for providing direct patient care; Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current NV license or a valid temporary license required; At least one (1) year of pediatric or PICU experience preferred. Minimum of one (1) year bedside nursing in past 2 years preferred.

A minimum of one (1) year hospital experience within the last three years required. PALS certification required; must be able to tolerate standing and walking majority of shift; push/pull 50 pounds max, up to 25 pounds frequently. Frequently assumes various awkward postures, including crouching, bending, overhead, and forward reach. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, have good verbal skills, visual and auditory acuity.

Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the Aid of Mechanical Devices): Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, fine hand coordination; ability to read and write; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with physicians, APN’s, families, personnel, and consultants; and must have the ability to remain calm under emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks.

POST OFFER: Quantiferon Tuberculosis blood test, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug screen.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Spanish speaking preferred, but not required

Compensation range commensurate with experience. Candidates will receive the compensation range during the initial interview.
