Form of workCabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Pediatric Oncology Education Coordinator for our Hoops Family Children's Hospital.
The Pediatric Oncology Education Coordinator, in collaboration with the inpatient and outpatient pediatric teams, plans, facilitates, leads, coordinates, and evaluates the education and training programs to provide a consistent standard of performance for staff caring for and managing pediatric oncology patients. The specific departments included within pediatric services are ECCC pediatric infusion, inpatient pediatric unit, PICU and Emergency Department. Specifically, this role develops orientation and continuing education programs ensuring that there is continuity of nursing and patient care practices within the pediatric services departments and that the standard of practice are consistent with nursing services standards. The educator will identify areas for education and training; obtain areas of focused education from the department managers, charge nurses, clinical coordinators, clinical staff, child life specialists, and FNPs. The educator will also be familiar with pediatric Clinical Trials and research. The educator will also work closely with ECCC pediatric clinical research nurse to provide most up to date clinical practices and guidelines. Staff education will be disseminated to the following roles: RNs, FNPs, LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Child Life Specialists and patients and family members. The role includes assessment of the clinical performance and continuing education needs of the pediatric employees, as well as development and evaluation of specific teaching/learning methods. This position also includes coaching of employees in relation to pediatric oncologic issues.
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Master's degree is preferred
- Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia is required
- ACLS/PALS is required
CPHON Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse is preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience
- 5+ Years of Position-Related Experience is preferred
The position-related experience includes:
5 years progressive healthcare management experience. Preference will be given to those experienced in oncology.
Candidate will score a minimum of 25 points in panel interview.
Candidate will score a minimum of 90% on a written Oncology exam
