Essential Duties
· Operates safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
· Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll. Uses automated system to produce accurate and timely bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls
· Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws and maintains current knowledge of the same
· Prepare and process voluntary and involuntary deductions such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and 401(K) deductions and contributions
· Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions) for management.
· Performs regular payroll and benefit reconciliations, identifies and corrects discrepancies
· Communicates with employees and supervisors about payroll and benefit related information
· Recommends best practices, develops and documents processes and procedures
· Understands and performs internal controls in accordance with company policies and procedures
· Identifies payroll system problems and coordinates corrective action with third party (UKG)
· Utilizes BI reports for payroll analysis and reconciliations
· Performs monthly ACA recordkeeping
· Is subject matter expert as it relates to Workforce Management (timekeeping)
· Participates in new hire orientation, educating new employees about pay and benefits
· Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Certifications
· High school diploma or equivalent; BS/BA in business, accounting or related field
· Three years' experience processing payroll
· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential preferred
· Experience with UKG or other payroll/HRIS
· A combination of related education and experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
· Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
· Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant payroll software (e.g. UKG) and databases
· Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
· Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills
Working Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office related devices. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
