Financial Specialist -Payroll HR - Alaska Directional
We are looking for an efficient and highly organized HR and Payroll Generalistto support and drive HR and Payroll at Alaska Directional.
Alaska Directional is a leading company in the telecommunications sector based in the breathtaking landscape of Palmer, Alaska. We are known for our commitment to excellence and innovation in Long Haul (middle mile) and FTTH (last mile). As we continue to grow, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Human Resources and Payroll Generalist to join our dynamic team.
Alaska Directional is a subsidiary company of Bristol Bay Industrial (Bristol Bay Native Corporation Holding Company). We are signatory to the IBEW and differentiate ourselves in the marketplace with an expansive equipment fleet and people that continue to push the limits of how efficient we can execute projects with the least amount of impact to the environment.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

  • Manage payroll by confirming compliance and ensuring accurate detailed input into the financial system.

  • Oversee timely and accurate deposits of payroll taxes and liabilities by third-party payroll administrators including resolution of payroll issues.

  • Ensure that business operations meet Union compliance standards and government regulations.
  • Process terminations and produce off-cycle payments as needed.
  • Perform bi-annual updates of all procedures, policies, and workflows.

  • Establish and manage vendor contracts, including but not limited to intercompany invoices.

  • Assist with insurance matters, including preparing renewal applications; maintaining spreadsheets detailing locations and property values, employee payroll, headcount, company vehicles and drivers; and responding to requests for proof of coverage from lenders and vendors.

  • Provide backup assistance to back-office team when necessary, including legal document preparation and edits, printing/copying, client correspondence, e-filings, mailings, deliveries, document notarizations and office telephone coverage.

Requirements
Requirements Include:
  • Dependable Self-Starter
  • At least 5 years of experience in HR, payroll, and general business administration. Or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in human resources, business, finance, accounting or public administration, or a related field.

  • Knowledgeable in HR and payroll management including general administration such as insurance and vendor management.

  • Solid understanding of federal and state employment regulations to ensure compliance (union experience is a plus).

  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company;

  • Exceptional integrity, work ethic, and commitment to confidentiality.

  • Independent, organized and must have a very keen eye to detail.

  • Paralegal experience and certification is not required but preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Hours:40 hours / week, between 7am to 5pm AK Time
Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000 DOE
