Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute is in search of a Payroll Specialist to work in the corporate office at the San Marco location.
JOI is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented person to process, maintain, and manage our company’s payroll process and ensure compliance with payroll related reporting requirements. This position is also responsible for various benefit functions.
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining payroll and benefits for employees.
This position is full-time with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and a 401K retirement plan.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Location: 1325 San Marco Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee Time & Attendance System from Paycor
    • Add new hires and assign to appropriate supervisor.
    • Assist in on-boarding managers/supervisors and employees to our payroll system.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll using Paycor
    • Add, change and term employees.
    • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
    • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
    • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
    • Monitor and reconcile employee time records.
    • Process additional bonus, PTO payout and other separate payroll checks.
    • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
    • Initiate 401K & FSA funding.
    • Maintain monthly and yearly accruals for PTO and EIB.
  • Manage Payroll System/Functions
    • Updates, maintain benefit earnings and deduction codes, company configurations and payables.
    • Communicates with HR to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, and rate changes.
    • Perform compliances for unclaimed property payroll checks.
    • Update and maintain supporting worksheets (benefits, accruals, enrollment & terminations).
    • Address and respond to payroll questions from employees, supervisors, & management.
    • Update and maintain employee’s detailed payroll records & personnel files.
    • Assist in semi-annual payroll audit requests.
    • Oversee ACA requirements.
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management, finance, etc.
    • Perform other payroll requests as assigned.
  • Maintain monthly employee benefit detail.
    • Allocate monthly health, life, LTD and other benefits to appropriate cost centers, to submit to AP for payment.
    • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the Paycor system.
    • Providing ongoing support to Human Resources.
    • Perform various benefit functions.
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Payroll Specialist or payroll supervisor.
  • A team player who works well with others and can work independently with little supervision.
  • Proven strong customer service and relationship building skills required.
  • Detailed oriented, with strong organizational skills.
  • Trustworthy, conscientious, and must keep confidentiality at all times.
  • Effectively communicate with managers, supervisors, employees and outside vendors/agents
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with cloud-based payroll and ERP accounting software.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
