Summary
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions using HRIS software such as Paylocity and Dayforce/Ceridian. This role involves reviewing and verifying timekeeping records, maintaining accurate HRIS system information, generating payroll reports for management, resolving payroll discrepancies, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive data. The Payroll Clerk also assists with payroll-related audits, provides weekly reports to various departments, and uses Excel for data analysis and report creation.
This position will be part-time to start, but may have the ability to become full time. This position is hybrid out of Winston Salem, NC.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the processing of payroll transactions accurately and timely using HRIS software (Paylocity & Dayforce/Ceridian).
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
- Review accuracy of data associated with new hires, terms, status changes, pay changes, etc.
- Maintain accurate information throughout the HRIS system
- Generate Payroll reports for management review as needed.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee tickets regarding payroll matters.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and sensitive employee data.
- Assist with payroll-related audits as needed.
- Provides weekly payroll reports to various departments.
- Utilize Excel to analyze payroll data, create reports and perform calculations.
- Act as backup to Payroll Administrator & Payroll Manager
- Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Experience with Dayforce/Ceridian preferred.
- Ability to prioritize task and meet deadlines with consistency.
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong skills in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP & data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May occasionally require driving to project sites. Conditions will include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Subject to frequent heavy lifting. May be exposed to variable weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures. #LI-Hybrid
