Job DescriptionGeneral Description:

This position is responsible for performing advanced hands-on inspection and evaluations of inspected items. Will report directly to the Pipeline Foreman.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Ensure a safe work environment.
  • Interface with HAK representative regularly for specific instruction applicable to daily job scope.
  • Daily interaction with HAK Operations for permitting to discuss job site safety and any hazards/SIMOPS in the area of the inspection location.
  • Reviews NDE requests from client before arrival to the job-site to ensure necessary equipment is functional and available while on-site.
  • Read piping prints (ISO’s, P&ID’s, Piping Plans).
  • Perform inspections on client requested equipment per company procedures, utilizing the following inspection methods, such as: UT Straight Beam, UT Shearwave, TOFD, PAUT, MT, PT , VT, Acid Etch, Code Quality UT for Piping and Structural Locations
  • The above inspection methods are used in the inspection programs below, such as: CUI Mitigation, ILI Mitigation, Well Work, Annual Monitoring, Code and Structural Welding, Rope Access.
  • Perform layout prior to inspection on CUI Mitigation and ILI Mitigation locations.
  • Crack sizing and monitoring with HAK approved inspection method and criteria.
  • Must be able to meet the inspection criteria, effectively communicate directions to field piping repair crew, and perform pre and post repair inspections I.A.W. HAK’s Anomaly Record program.
  • Display basic competency in identifying damage in radiographs to assist with interpretation of TOFD, PAUT, and UTSW inspections.
  • Report detailed inspection findings to appropriate lead and/or HAK contact.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, indoors and outdoors, remote locations and diversified personalities.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
  • Knowledge of Kakivik safety programs and environmental issues.
  • Skilled written, verbal and interpersonal communication that include good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
Work Environment:

  • The position is on-call 24 hours/day while on shift. Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet demands of the job.  Position may be reassigned at any time to meet operational objectives.
  • Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Work in confined spaces and repetitively bend and/or twist through small entryways.
  • Walk, climb and maneuver on or around piping, piping supports while working in a crouched position.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Hearing protection and the use of safety eyewear is required in most working situations.

 

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service.  Must be able to push/pull 70 pounds for 20 feet.
  • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man. Have correctable vision to at least 20/40.
  • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist, 40 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 40 pounds for 20 feet.
  • RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.

 

Contingencies: Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check.

RequirementsRequired Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Level II certification required in the following methods as specified by the Company’s Technical Representative: Ultrasonic—unlimited, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, TOFD, PAUT, UT II Shear Wave, MT II, PT II, and Acid Etch.
  • Ability to successfully complete at a minimum, Irata/Sprat level 1 training.
