Patient Services Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:      High School Diploma or GED required. 

Experience:  Computer experience required.  Customer relations experience required.  Experience with Medical Records software preferred.  Front desk practice experience preferred.

License/Registration:  not required

Other:  Excellent verbal communication skills and problem-solving techniques, extreme accuracy and confidentiality required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Manages patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience
2. Enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance and billing information through each patient encounter
3. Maintains appropriate inventory of office supplies
4. Accurately access and obtain patient healthcare information through multiple electronic medical records
5. Answering phones promptly and courteously, accurately transcribing messages and delivering messages in a timely manner
6. Accurately and efficiently schedule varying modalities (radiation therapy, physician visits, etc.)
7. Obtaining all pertinent patient information prion to the patient’s visit with the provider, including but  not  limited to, diagnostic reports, pathology reports, imaging discs, demographic information, insurance   information, etc.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Range of motion within functional limits.  Requires manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Functional vision and hearing.  Frequent sitting; occasional standing/walking.  Lifting 10 pounds from floor to waist occasionally.
