Job Title:Patient Services Representative
Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties on behalf of patients, physicians and other members of the clinic.
Essential Functions:
- Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages and provide information.
- Greet, screen, schedule, and direct patients.
- Prepare and process correspondence. Answers routine medical inquiries and draft letters.
- Obtain, verify, and update patient information and provide support services to patients and medical staff.
- Request, locate, send, and receive patients’ medical records.
- Maintain appointments for patients.
- Prepare electronic patient charts.
- Maintain electronic patient files and assist in establishing office systems.
- Order office and clinical supplies. Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality. Follow HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review, and edit reports, and correspondence.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
- Skill in operating a computer, telephone, and copy machine.
- Ability to type 50 wpm.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instructions.
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- 1 year - Experience using a personal computer including MS Office suite.
- Typing skills - 40 wpm.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.
