Job Title:Patient Services Representative

Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties on behalf of patients, physicians and other members of the clinic.

Essential Functions:

• Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages and provide information.
• Greet, screen, schedule, and direct patients.
• Prepare and process correspondence. Answers routine medical inquiries and draft letters.
• Obtain, verify, and update patient information and provide support services to patients and medical staff.
• Request, locate, send, and receive patients’ medical records.
• Maintain appointments for patients.
• Prepare electronic patient charts.
• Maintain electronic patient files and assist in establishing office systems.
• Order office and clinical supplies. Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment.
• Maintain the strictest confidentiality. Follow HIPAA regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review, and edit reports, and correspondence.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
• Skill in operating a computer, telephone, and copy machine.
• Ability to type 50 wpm.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instructions.
• Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• 1 year - Experience using a personal computer including MS Office suite.
• Typing skills - 40 wpm.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.
