The Regional Eye Center is looking for a Patient Service Representative. The ideal candidate will perform patient check-in, check-out, and medical records functions for patients coming into The Regional Eye Center. They will initiate and conclude patient visits in a friendly, organized, and efficient manner. Facilitates smooth patient flow within the office, promotes good patient relations, and serves as a general information source for patients following established guidelines.
Check-in duties will include greeting patients upon their arrival to the office. Registers / updates patient records in our system providing consistency for patient demographics. Verifies current billing and insurance information with patients, updating as needed. Scans both new patient paperwork/medical records into Electronic Medical Records as needed. Accepts payments for Contact Lens, Surgery Prepayments, and outstanding balances. Pulls and files charts based on daily schedules.
Check-out duties will include scheduling appointments. Informing patients of current charges, collecting balance, posting charges and compiling end of day reports. Scans both new patient paperwork/medical records into Electronic Medical Records as needed.
Requires excellent communication skills and a keen understanding of patients with sensory impairments and medical disease. Ability to type, minimum 35 wpm and use CRT. Efficient use of calculator. Ability to interact with public / physicians. Good organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as strong verbal communication skills.
Preferred knowledge in Nextgen Electronic Practice Management software, General knowledge of medical records and ophthalmic procedures. Working knowledge of correct CPT and ICD-9 coding and modifiers.
