The Patient Service Representative is a key position in our imaging centers that greets patients and registers them for their procedures.
SUMMARY - To perform all clerical duties necessary to register and process patients so imaging studies can be performed and billed correctly.
- Location: Turnersville, NJ
- Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm plus every other Saturday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Register patients by collecting/verifying patient demographic information, insurance data and referring physician information as well as meaningful use
- Achieve accurate and complete data entry of each patient
- Check insurance eligibility
- Calculate deductibles and coinsurances
- Collect and post co-pays, coinsurances and balances
- Daily data entry/computer work
- Keep accurate journal sheets of all payments posted
- Schedule appointments. Explain studies, procedures and preps to patients
- Answer the telephone, fax reports, request and release images
- Contact referring physician offices as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
- Perform all duties according to company/office policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Regular attendance
- Mandatory overtime as needed
- Punctuality and regular attendance
- All other duties as assigned
- Experience in an administrative healthcare position preferred
- Good computer skills, proficient keyboarding and data entry skills
- Working knowledge of insurance and billing functions a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Detail oriented and ability to multitask in a busy work environment
- Knowledge of office equipment (i.e. copy machine, scanner, fax machine, multiline telephone)
- Working knowledge of RIS/PACS system
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, their family members and coworkers
Working Conditions – The position is in an indoor office setting in close proximity to coworkers. There is daily interaction with patients, patients’ family members, coworkers and vendors.
