Patient Financial Counselor
Brief Job Description:
Among other activities, our Patient Financial Counselors primarily:
- Reach out to assist patients with medical bills.
- Gather confidential medical and financial information from patients and determine best options for patients to resolve balances.
- Work with various teams throughout the organization and within the hospital to ensure patient and client needs are met.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to quickly become proficient in multiple account management/hospital billing programs, web-based database programs, GSuite, MS Office, etc.
- Strong attention to detail/proofreading skills.
- Solid, patient-oriented customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask as well as track and meet numerous deadlines.
- Capable of working successfully in a team-oriented environment and coordinate services in other departments.
- Willingness to spend extensive time as a trainee, with a strong desire to learn new things, and the ability to adjust to changing policies and processes.
- Ability to communicates in writing and orally with linguistic and cultural proficiency.
- Adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in billing, Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Insurance, or related fields preferred.
- Spanish-speaking a plus.
