- Must be courteous to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Takes and records patients' vital signs. Dresses wounds, gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages.
- Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles.
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
- Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients' charts.
- Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.
- Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
- Prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet and feeds patients. Records food and fluid intake and output.
- Bathes, dresses, and assists patients in walking and turning.
- Cleans rooms, makes beds, and answers patients' calls.
- Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons.
- Assists in delivery, care, and feeding of infants.
- Inventories and requisitions supplies.
- Performs tracheotomy care, colostomy care, wound care and dressing changes.
- Demonstrates through clinical practice the use of universal precautions, understands the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standards.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and/or practice in the prevention of TB transmission and adheres to all other infection control policies.
- Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times.
PSA
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
- Answering call lights.
- Making beds both empty and occupied.
- Setting up all equipment routinely used on their home base units.
- Preparing room for admission.
- Assist with patient discharges
- Removal of linens.
- Answering telephone.
- Must wear facility provided identification badge.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family member, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
- Facilitate communication to RNs to provide best care possible for patients
- Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.
Additional PATIENT SERVICE ASSISTANT PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non-invasive specimen collection.
- Turning and positioning patients, range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
- Assistance with all ADL's and complete care as needed.
- Setting up, assisting and educating patients, with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, venodyne boots, crutches, specific precautions- with input from PT as needed
- Appropriate emptying and/or recording of all drainage devices.
- Postmortem care.
Patient Care Tech - Grade 7
- High School diploma or equivalent. CNA.
- 6 months experience in a health care setting
- Reads, writes, understands English
- Must have taken the EKG course.
- BLS
- Phlebotomy
Patient Service Assistant - Grade FHS5A
- Ability to read, write and communication in English
- Possess a High school Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Completed a Nursing Assistant Program
- Completed an EMT Program
- Completed an LPN Program
- Completed at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program
- Equivalent clinical Military experience
- Possess a Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Obtain CPI Certification within 6 months from hire and must maintain recertification annually.
- Successfully pass the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for PSA.
