Job Summary:
Provides direct PATIENT CARE in individual PATIENT CARE setting, consistent with the nursing departments standards of care. Meets the communication needs of patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles medical records. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians and families with consideration and respect. Will crosstrain as Monitor Tech.
Education:
High school graduate or GED required.
Experience:
Med clerk or nursing assistant experience preferred but not required.
Language/CommunicationSkills:
English required. Multilingual capability enhance the ability to preforn this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and in a professional manner to staff, management and outside individuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Skill in adding and substracting two-digit numbers. Skills in preforming operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound.
Reasoning Ability:
Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, staff, visitors, and other employees. Critical thinking and multitasking skills are a must. Nust have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.
