Our 23-bed Medical Surgical department at our Mayo Clinic Health System-Bloomer location cares for both acute and transitional care patients. Common patient populations include post-surgical (Cardiac, Orthopedic, GI, etc.), neurological, oncology, and general medical. The department has a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Staff are strongly supported by each other, as well as by leadership.
The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications
18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications
Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.
License or Certification
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
