DEPARTMENT: PATIENT ACCESS (REGISTRATION)
F ACILITY: Tift Regional Medical Center
WORK TYPE: Full Time

HOURS:
SUMMARY:
Provides supervisory leadership to staff in all patient registration and patient scheduling areas, both on site and remote sites. Makes certain registration and scheduling departments run smoothly and effectively through guidance and leadership practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides leadership and supervision to staff members using general guidelines under the guidance of the Manager of Patient Access.
  • Leads in team building and training activities within the department and the organization.
  • Supervises, enforces, and monitors point of service collections with the pinnacle of efficiency.
  • Understand and administer operational guidelines under general guidance of Director.
  • Ensures that all supplies and equipment is available and/or operational for staff usage.
  • Maintains staffing schedules for area of responsibility.
  • Participates with Director in administration of disciplinary action to staff when appropriate.
  • Recommends to Patient Access Director personnel action, inter-intradepartmental transfer, promotion, training, merit review, and disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Provides input into development of departmental policies, procedures, and budgets and assists in administering same.
  • Completes all required reports/evaluations in timely manner.
  • Reviews PAT/PHS/AFP accounts in a timely manner and handles appropriately.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of all HIPAA laws.
  • Demonstrates good judgment by conducting all aspects of supervision in a fair, firm, consistent, and objective manner and counsels employees in privacy.
  • Makes sure productivity levels are in line for all direct reports.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
in Education specialization:
Essential:
  • High School Diploma or GED
or
CREDENTIALS:

OTHER INFORMATION:
Two (2) years of advanced education or two (2) years experience in a hospital Patient Access department required. HFMA Patient Accounts Representative (CPAR) certification preferred.
