Hourly Gross: $77.75/hr. All-Inclusive
Weekly Gross: $3,110 weekly gross.

Summary:
Provide high level support for the performance of moderate to high complexity procedures within a section or major division of the anatomic pathology laboratory. Perform administrative functions in support of optimal laboratory function by implementation of quality/cost effective procedures; and to carry out hospital and laboratory policies. Provide direction to laboratory staff and students; exercise expertise in development/evaluation/performance of new or specialty procedures.
Position Reports To: Anatomic Pathology Manager
Essential Functions:
- Performs the duties of the Pathologist Assistant II job description.
- Responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the designated laboratory section.
- Provide technical consultation on test ordering and interpretation of results for designated section.
- Appropriate test selection, with adequate method verification, including research and interaction with vendors.
- Development of SOPs and maintenance records, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and personnel documentation.
- Supervising enrollment of CMS approved proficiency testing programs and ensures proficiency testing samples are tested
and reviewed by appropriate staff.
- Carrying out corrective actions recommended by CLIA Lab Director, Consultant, Proficiency Testing, CLIA or other
regulatory/accrediting bodies.
- Ensuring and supervising the development of effective quality management, quality improvement, quality assessment, and
quality control programs.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot QC results for accuracy and acceptability, taking responsibility for appropriate follow-up.
- Documenting remedial actions and identifying systems for maintenance by keeping appropriate documentation on test
systems.
- Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire test process.
- Develops and oversees laboratory personnel performance and competency, including training and/or directing staff in the
use of new procedures, instrumentation, and chemical hygiene safety/handling.
- Ensures that all specimens are grossed and processed in a timely manner.
- Resolution of technical problems in accordance with policy and procedure, including overseeing maintenance and troubleshooting of technical equipment.
- Develops and maintains effective inventory control systems for reagents and testing supplies.
- Performs administrative duties such as organize schedules and validation of new tests and equipment.
- Develops, maintains, and improves Anatomic Pathology reports for quality data reporting and assure compliance to College
of American Pathologist (CAP) standards.
- Subject matter expert for Grossing/Accessioning portion of Power path laboratory information system.
- Responsible for quality assurance and maintenance of tissue processors.
- Responsible for the following reports: TNM Report, ER/PR Reports, Power Path reports, and other ad hoc reports.
- Adheres to departmental patient handling performance standards.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is an essential requirement of working at this facility. Religious and medical exemptions will be considered upon request.
Qualifications:
- PA (ASCP) or eligible (will pass within 6 months of hire) or relevant experience prior to establishment of certification.
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of a pathologist approved Pathology Assistant training program.
- Completion of an approved and accredited educational training program for Pathology Assistants.
- The candidate must possess proven and documented skills at performing routine Pathology Assistant functions which
include:
- The preparation and performance of surgical specimen examination for small and large cases.
- Proficiency in the preparation and assistance of frozen sections.
Desired:
- Master's degree in an approved Pathology Assistant Program.
- Documented work experience as a Pathology Assistant for a minimum of one year; however, new graduates are accepted.
