The Speech LanguagePathologist Assistantassists the Speech Language Pathologist inproviding speech and language services. TheSpeech Language Pathologist Assistant willhave clinical, educational, documentation,and treatment related activitieswhile working withinthe scope of responsibilities/ plan ofcare assigned by the SpeechLanguage Pathologist and/orphysician.
Responsibilities:
- Provides components of a speechand language program as specifiedin thetreatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordancewith the physician's plan of care according to state regulation
- Provides timelyand accurate documentation of student, client andpatient performance and reportsthis information to the supervising SLP
- Programs andprovides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
- Maintainscommunication with thecompany and other personnel caring for theclient, patient, studentto assure that their efforts effectively complement each other andsupport the objectivesoutlined in the plan of carewithin the scope of practice
- Other Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) dutiesas assigned
- Must be agraduate of an SLPA program with an associate's degree,or have a bachelor's degreein a speech-language pathology or communication disordersprogram
- Successfulcompletion of a minimum of 100 hoursof supervised field work experienceor its clinical experience equivalent
- Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant intheState of Practice
- One (1) year ofprior professional Speech-LanguagePathology Assistantexperience preferred; home care experience preferred
- Must possess and maintain current CPR certificationinaccordance with State regulation(s)
- Currentrecord of PPD or chest X-ray results,if applicable
