  • We are expanding into new states and continually adding providers and services. As a result, we have a need for a Pathologists Assistant at our Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA Headquarters!

Summary
  • The pathologists assistant performs tissue grossing and oversees all aspects of laboratory gross room operations and personnel. This motivated and dynamic leader is responsible for ensuring smooth high quality day-to-day operations of the gross room and continued learning and development of the team with direction and support from the Director of Lab Operations, Medical Lab Director and pathologists

Reporting & Supervision
  • Reports to Director of Operations and takes direction from the Medical Lab Director
  • Directly supervises personnel working in the grossing area of the lab

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
  • Collaborates with the Medical Lab Director on workflow, quality, and other initiatives to ensure high quality pathology services are provided.
  • Performs daily grossing of tissue specimens.
  • Oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations of the lab gross room, ensuring high quality production and excellent turn-around-time. Leads troubleshooting when needed.
  • Assists with personnel management and maximizes efficiency, productivity and teamwork of gross room personnel through effective communication, training and development, recognition and support in accordance with company philosophy, goals and objectives.
  • Ensures all gross room related policies and procedures are up to date at all times and followed.
  • Ensures high quality training and orientation of new grossing staff.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of performance and ensures competency of grossing personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with CLIA regulations. Prepares for and participates in CLIA inspections.
  • Works with the Forefront Safety Committee and Lab Safety Officer to maintain lab compliance with all OSHA, RCRA, and DNR guidelines.
  • Leads gross room related laboratory investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensures gross room has adequate equipment and supplies.
  • Assists the Medical Lab Director with tasks and projects commensurate with Pathologist Assistant qualifications.

Qualifications
Requirements
  • Completion of NAACLS Accredited Pathologist Assistant Program or equivalent work experience
  • ASCP Certification or equivalent Pathologist assistant certification
  • 1+ years laboratory work experience
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solver
