Drawing inspiration from the eclectic, boundary-eschewing bistronomie movement in Paris (and beyond), Bar Chelou is Pasadena’s first true neo-bistro. Conceived by Chef/Owner Douglas Rankin.
We are looking for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our team!
Responsibilities include:
- Develop all recipes, ensuring product, food preparations and food execution meet restaurant's style, specifications, and commitment to culinary excellence
- Continuously provide leadership and guidance to all pastry staff and actively participate on the in line as needed
- Responsible for a method of service, production, and cooking to ensure all items are prepared to meet deadlines and standards
- Manage all aspects of the pastry operation and oversee pastry production
- Work in a high-intensity kitchen and work environment and be able to handle the rigors of busy services while not sacrificing quality and consistency
Requirements include:
- A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a previous culinary supervisory or management experience within a high-volume kitchen
- Highly developed knowledge of various culinary styles and mastery of all line level cooking stations
- Genuine passion for pastry, restaurant hospitality, and learning new skills
- An understanding of baking and pastry techniques, production and a basic understanding of how to use kitchen equipment
- Highly organized, productive, and able to work meticulously in a high-intensity kitchen / work environment
- Energetic and friendly personality, with strong willingness and ability to work as part of a cohesive team and to support colleagues regardless of role
- Physical requirements include but not limited to the ability to handle and carry trays, smallware, equipment, or other items up to 50lbs, and to stand, walk up and downstairs, and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time
