Description
St. Monica, Mercer Island, and Sacred Heart, Bellevue, seek as a parish family, a dynamic, passionate leader to guide High School-aged young people on their faith journeys. The High School Youth Minister will collaborate with a full-time Middle School Youth Minister across a dual-campus setting, connect with the youth, plan ministry programming and events, lead ministry volunteers, and regularly communicate with parents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where local youth (members and guests) can connect.
- Encourage the Youth and help them develop a personal relationship with God.
- Foster a sense of belonging and community within the church.
- Support and participate in church worship services.
- Work in partnership with Middle School Youth/Campus Minister.
- Expand and enrich the program by creating appropriate services and programs, sharing groups, and fellowship events.
- Recruit, train, deploy, and support teams of volunteers who share responsibility for youth ministry and Campus Ministry roles that match their interests and abilities.
- Create a year-round youth ministry calendar for youth groups and Confirmation preparation ministries, including retreats, conferences, and missions.
- With the support of the parish administrative staff, manage all paperwork related to youth ministry, Confirmation preparation, and Campus Ministry.
- Continuous improvement: Attend Archdiocesan youth minister/campus minister training and keep up with the latest youth ministry and Campus Ministry trends.
- Work with parish family religion teachers to bridge school and parish ministry of students in grades 9th - 12th.
- Communicate and work with the parents of the youth of our parish, soliciting volunteer support and providing family catechesis.
- Attending local student functions at High School events while developing relationships within the education community.
- Attend staff meetings and retreats and participate in the parish family's vision and mission.
- Meet regularly with lay leadership for team building and planning purposes.
Qualifications
Experience and skills:
- A faithful Catholic and active member of a parish in good standing with the Church.
- Ability to travel between parishes, to off-site events and to work on evenings and weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Educational Requirement: College degree in related field.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- 1-3 years' experience managing youth ministry, Campus Ministry, and volunteers.
- Is Archdiocesan "Safe Environment" certified or willing to be certified at their earliest convenience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Full Time, year-round, includes evening and weekend work.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
