Job description

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization that is fighting for change that lasts, right here in the U.S. and across the globe. We bring sustainable solutions to the world’s greatest problems – disasters, extreme poverty, violence, oppression, and mass displacement. The organization is approximately 75 years old and has worked in over 100 countries around the world since its founding.
In the United States, we come alongside local churches, community organizations and hundreds of individual volunteers to support newly arriving refugee and other immigrant families. Today, we are proud to partner with over 6,000 local churches, and 95,000 volunteers globally to bring hope, healing and transformation to the most vulnerable.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you a person of compassion? An advocate for justice? Someone who stands up for the rights of the vulnerable and speaks out for the marginalized, the exploited and the forgotten? Do you believe in our calling as Christians to welcome the least of these and love our neighbor?

If you answered ‘yes’, to any of the above, World Relief, and millions of people around the world need you.

World Relief’s Strategic Engagement Division (SED) is tasked with connecting the passions of individuals, churches, and organizations to the vision of World Relief - through mission-focused funding opportunities – so that the most vulnerable would be transformed socially, economically, and spiritually. In support of this goal, the SED team is looking for a talented, ambitious, detail-oriented and collaborative person to join our Partnership Impact team. This position, the Partnership Content Specialist, joins the team during an exciting time for the organization as we celebrate our 80th anniversary. The team and leadership are committed to sustaining a team culture that values members living out their faith, enjoying high performance and loving their work. The SED team is tasked with pursuing new partnerships while seeking to steward and care well for existing partners. This team member will develop content for World Relief’s fundraising team focused on foundations, corporations, churches, and major donors. The ideal candidate will be adept at creating compelling content (grant proposals, reports, newsletters, stories, presentations, updates, etc.) and should have a proven track record of timely delivery of deliverables. This position requires a high level of creativity and donor-centric language, and candidates will need the ability to draft both technical and inspirational content. Excellent writing, spelling, editing, proofing, and grammar skills are essential to the role. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing background, particularly in grant writing, bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience, including project management. Knowledge of the Storybrand framework is a plus.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Content:
  • Own the development of grant proposals, reports, and other materials that aid in the stewardship of World Relief partners, including churches, major donors, foundations, and corporations, and spanning World Relief’s international and US work.
  • Write and develop other content for partners and prospects (stories, updates, newsletters, emergency appeals, etc.).
  • Create, tailor and manage creative resources in support of frontline fundraisers’ relationship development efforts (including templates, overviews, presentation decks, and other collateral).
  • Deliver world-class written communications that demonstrate the impact of giving to World Relief.
Operations:
  • Develop and manage timelines and key project indicators for deadlines and submissions of proposals and reports.
  • Liaise with program staff to organize and facilitate streamlined proposal development and impact reporting processes.
  • Represent the team in cross-departmental projects and initiatives; serve as a connector between program staff, WR’s partnership impact team, and the Strategic Engagement operations team to ensure smooth flow of information and data.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Outstanding listening, oral and written communication and meeting facilitation skills with a demonstrated ability to relate to and communicate with diverse communities.
  • Ability to anticipate audience-specific communication needs and support the execution of these needs.
  • Project management, from facilitating big-picture strategic conversations about positioning and prospects to completion and on-time submission of full proposal and report packages (narratives, budgets and attachments).
  • Understanding of global issues and ability to distill complex situations into digestible content pieces.
  • Ability to write compelling stories that help our partners move forward in their journey with WR.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines and motivate others to do so, using diplomacy, clear communication and effective systems and processes to ensure that all team members follow through on assignments and tasks on time.
  • Ability to think and write creatively.
  • Capable of balancing independent and remote work structure with a highly collaborative team-based culture.
  • Extremely self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to use with fluency all Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
