Lead Content Specialist - Nesdis

INNOVIM is seeking a Lead Content Specialist to support The National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). Which provides timely access to global environmental data from satellites and other sources to promote, protect, and enhance the Nation’s economy, security, environment, and quality of life.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS or BA in Communications, English, Technical Writing, Digital Strategist, Data Science, or equivalent experience/certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience required in SEO, digital marketing, local search, and/or content management.
• CRM tool knowledge and must be familiar with Google Analytics.
• Experience developing the strategy and execution of content across digital channels.
• Emphasis on ability to understand, edit, and write in both science and technical writing.
• Able to interpret complex content into plain language content.
• Understanding of storytelling and digital marketing strategy.
• Understanding of and familiarity with multichannel and omnichannel communications campaigns.
• Knowledge of FAIR and CARE principles is a plus.
• An understanding and experience executing direct response techniques from a database and creative perspective.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate needs and expectations.
• Proficiency in Google Tools, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Knowledge of AP Style and ability to learn and uphold style guides.

Primarily responsible for:

• Improves content creation efforts by helping to lead the research & development of interactive and experiential storytelling for projects.
• Advise how to improve the ongoing iteration of content models.
• Collaborate with designers and other content strategists to improve how the effectiveness of digital, print, and other content is measured.
• Develop and maintain appropriate voice for produced content.
• Advise how to streamline content production and management solutions and processes, based on user research.
• Experience with translating technical content into plain language content.
• Plan and facilitate content strategy workshops and brainstorming sessions on developing content and content services (including API development)
• Collaborate closely with developers and designers to create, test, and deploy effective content marketing experiences using the Agile method of software development.
• Offer educated recommendations on how to deliver a consistent, sustainable and standards-driven execution of content strategy across products, services, and projects.
• Collaborate with content managers, writers, information architects, interaction designers, developers, and content creators of all types
• Participate, as needed, on an Agile software development scrum teams.
• Monitor and analyze web user data using a variety of tools/methods (e.g., Google Analytics, SiteImprove, SEO) to implement content usability improvements.
• Assign, edit, and produce content for products, services, and various projects across multiple digital platforms, using best web writing practices.
• Ensure content quality and consistent web style across all content areas.
• Coach content writers regarding SEO strategies and advise on which content types to use.
