In-Person Tutor:
As a Tutor with Middle Tree you will be responsible for providing one-on-one and/or small group tutoring sessions and make a positive impact on students' math and literacy skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math and literacy instruction, experience working with diverse student populations, and a commitment to fostering a love for learning. You may work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and support students who may be struggling with reading, implementing targeted interventions to promote reading success.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment and Goal Setting:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' reading strengths and challenges.
- Collaborate with students, parents, and teachers to set specific, measurable, and achievable reading goals.
Individualized Tutoring Sessions:
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions focused on the specific needs of each student.
- Implement evidence-based reading interventions to address identified challenges.
Progress Monitoring:
- Regularly assess and monitor students' progress in reaching their academic goals.
- Adjust tutoring strategies based on ongoing assessment data.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and transparent communication with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction.
Motivation and Engagement:
- Use creative and engaging teaching methods to motivate students and instill a love for learning.
- Incorporate age-appropriate and culturally responsive materials to enhance learning.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and open communication with students, parents, and teachers, providing regular updates on student performance and areas of improvement, as appropriate.

Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Tutor, with a focus on 3rd - 8th grade Math, Reading/Literacy.
- Knowledge of various tutoring intervention strategies and programs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and teachers.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
- Availability to conduct tutoring sessions Monday - Friday, in-person at a designated school site in Ontario beginning at 3:00pm.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 6 per week
