JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Large multi-laboratory zebrafish facility at the Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA
is in need of a fish feeder to help with the care of approximately 10,000 zebrafish in their centrally located fish facilities in the Jake Gittlen Laboratories for Cancer Research. Duties include harvesting brine shrimp to feed the zebrafish who are housed in various size aquariums, ranging from one to 10 gallons, and the cleaning of aquarium equipment and facilities.
Hours are flexible but the successful candidate is expected to work several weekdays (afternoons) and every other weekend. The work schedule is typically 10 hours per week but not exceeding 20 hours per week. This is not a summer job. It is a long-term part- time position.
Must be able to communicate and work well with others, follow specific directions, work independently, use a 2-step step stool and lift 30 lbs. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a plus. He/ She must be willing to go through a training period (including online coursework) and work in a warm and humid environment. All are encouraged to apply; including retirees.
