Part-time Probate Deputy Clerk (approximately 25 hours per week)

Purpose of Classification
Perform customer service and clerical work functions associated with Probate court activities and operations.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position and are not exclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Courteously greet and serve customers with requests for vital records, weapons carry permits, and marriage applications. Routinely respond to routine questions, complaints, and requests for service.
- Provide general information to the public regarding services, probate procedures, fees, and forms.
- Receive money in payment of fees for services and records.
- Perform general office tasks including answering phones, data entry, making copies, filings, and other duties as required.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with departmental operations, per established procedures and within designated time frame: distributes documentation or maintains records as appropriate.
- Performs data entry functions by keying data into computer system; retrieves, reviews or modifies data in computer database.
- Answers the telephone; provides information and assistance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Passion for helping others; values teamwork; high school diploma or equivalent; six months experience in general clerical and customer service work.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Skill in performing general clerical work functions; skill in customer service and interpersonal relations; skill in operating standard office equipment; skill in typing and data entry; and skill in utilizing various computer software programs relevant to the position.
- Ability to accurately process a considerable volume of work; ability to organize work activities and establish priorities; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, customers, other agencies, and the general public; ability to effectively interact with customers in a firm but tactful manner.
