Part Time Optometrist

Welcome,

Premier Optometric Services is a network of optometrists serving the Virginia Costco Optometric Offices. Our location is at the Manassas, VA Costco. We are open to both Costco members and the general public. The majority of our services are for Contact Lens and Routine Eye Exams for glasses. We also handle minor emergencies and can diagnose and treat many ocular conditions.

Currently we are open 5 days a week: Tuesday - Friday, 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9:30 am to 4 pm. We are open to adding additional days for Monday or Sunday for the right candidate.

This opening is for a Part Time Optometrist, 1-3 days a week. Ideal candidates would alternate Saturdays and work 5 days a week a couple times a year.

Skill requirements

All candidates should be comfortable fitting all types of soft contact lenses.

We have a large population of Spanish speaking patients, and even though our front desk will be able to translate, candidates must be comfortable giving exams using basic Spanish instructions.

Candidates need to be able to process 3 exams per hour, including contact lens fittings.

Compensation

There is a base salary of $600 per day as a 1099 independent contractor with bonuses for achieving certain daily goals.

W2 option is available at a different hourly rate.

Malpractice Insurance is provided if needed.

Schedule is flexible but a repeating weekly schedule is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases
- Prescribe corrective lenses or other vision aids as necessary
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Perform minor surgical procedures, such as removing foreign bodies from the eye or eyelid
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care
- Educate patients on proper eye care and hygiene practices
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient
- Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards, including HIPAA regulations

Skills:

- Strong patient care skills, with the ability to establish rapport and provide compassionate care
- Proficiency in conducting vital signs assessments and interpreting results
- In-depth knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and various eye diseases and conditions
- Familiarity with ophthalmology equipment and instruments used in diagnostic procedures
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology related to optometry and ophthalmology
- Experience working with pediatric patients and addressing their unique vision needs
- Knowledge of optical principles and ability to recommend appropriate eyewear options
- Understanding of the specific vision needs of senior patients and ability to provide appropriate care
- Proficient in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
