Position Summary
Maintenance of buildings, grounds, various utilities systems and servicing and repair of mechanical equipment, responsible for all major plumbing and electrical work, maintenance of all air conditioners, maintain building in compliance with building and safety codes, reports to Maintenance Director and Supervisor about all work that is being done through the facility.
Shift: 8AM to 4PM, 3 days per week including weekends
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the application, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of all structural, mechanical, electrical devices and other equipment as may be required.
- Perform duties such as carpentry, painting, electrical repairs, and general repair work.
- Perform necessary repairs of air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Install all equipment, machinery, furniture, fixtures and other such devices as may be required.
- Maintain equipment and machinery in operating order.
- Perform all necessary maintenance and repair duties as may be required.
- Inspect any malfunctioning of equipment and any fire and other safety hazards.
- Check maintenance logbooks on each unit on a daily basis, document status of job, report needed repairs or difficulties to Supervisors.
- Installing of all Century Tubs (A&B Buildings)
- Installing of all shower beds.
- Roofing in "A" and "B" buildings.
- Maintain the alarm system in both buildings.
- Welding-beds (as needed to be required), boiler, gates, doors.
- Must have sufficient knowledge of small tools - their handling and use.
- Must install lamps in lighting fixtures, as required.
- Must assist in the application, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of all structural, mechanical, electrical devices, and such other equipment as may be required.
- Must assist the carpenter in framing, furring, scaffold building, cutting wall board installation and such other work and installations as may be required.
- Must assist the painter in protection of work, scaffolding erection, bridging such other work as may be required by the painter.
- Must assist the plumber/steam fitter, electrician, air conditioning, refrigeration mechanic and watch engineer in the performance of their duties, as may be required.
- Must assist in mixing and installation of mortar, cement, plaster, and black top surfacing.
- Must assist in the installation of all equipment, machinery, furniture, fixtures, and such other devices as may be required.
- Must help install floor surfacing materials, concrete laying, plastering, ceramic tile setting, resilient tile setting, and black top surfacing.
- Must assist the electrician in the performance of his duties, as required.
- Must remove rubble, miscellaneous waste and such other material and refuse as may be required.
- Must assist in the protection of work areas.
- Must clean, dust, sweep, and do such other work as may be required in keeping work areas clean and safe.
- Must wash, clean, wipe-down, paint and otherwise maintain satisfactory cleanliness of machinery, equipment and devices as may be required.
- Must assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the maintenance shop and associated areas.
- Must oil and/or lubricate motors, pumps, blowers, machinery, and such other equipment and devices as may be required.
- Must be able to identify standard electric wiring devices, boxes, wires, conduits, fittings, and such other components as may be regularly used for electrical installations.
- Must be able to perform electrical repairs, maintenance and installations while working alone with limited- supervision.
- Must perform all such duties as may be required of a handyperson.
- Must assist all other trades in the performance of their duties, as necessary.
- Must work Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, or nights as required.
- Must assist with snow removal.
- Must use personal protective equipment as directed and/or serviced by supervisor.
- To serve on the Fire Brigade.
- Must report to the Maintenance Director and Maintenance Supervisor.
