Position Information
This part-time Library Technician position is located at the Sewell Mill Library in the Circulation Department and will assist patrons on the computer and in checking books in and out. This position will work some nights and weekends and 4 hours on scheduled Sundays (1:00-5:00p).
Essential Functions
Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.
Take fines for overdue books.
Assist in keeping daily statistics.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service. Experience using personal computers, projectors, electronic devices such as e-readers, standard office equipment and software applications and good computer skills required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
