ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
  • Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate
  • Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification, to identify target population, analyze trends and risk factors, and design, and evaluate prevention and control strategies. Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
  • Conduct on-going surveillance using CDC infection criteria, documentation and investigation of nosocomial infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, antibiotic usage, consultation requests, and post-discharge surveillance in order to collect and report on HAIs and conditions and to implement control measures that decrease risk of infection to patients and personnel.
  • Conduct environmental rounds in inpatient and surgical service areas to surveil Infection Control practices and do one-on-one teaching and just-in-time training with staff members in order to find and correct issues relating to infection prevention practices.
  • Coordinate investigations of any infection outbreaks in the organization with coordination of reporting to county/state health departments and higher authorities if necessary.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the surveillance program and modify as necessary.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement activities by assessing, monitoring and measuring nosocomial infections and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis.
  • Coordinate the quarterly Infection Control committee meetings.
  • Plan, organize develop and implement educational programs for all hospital employees to increase awareness of nosocomial infections, techniques for avoidance and preventative measures to provide a safe environment for hospital employees and patients.
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures which provide a program of preventative practices for hospital personnel to follow relating to exposure to infectious diseases and prevention of spread.
  • Develop an antibiotic stewardship program (in coordination with Pharmacy department and the Quality Coordinator) for the hospital that addresses combatting antimicrobial resistance through implementation of a robust stewardship program that follows nationally recognized guidelines for appropriate antibiotic use.

EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE:


Education


Bachelors Degree in Nursing ,Public Health, Microbiology, or equivilant


Licenses


Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Colorado if applicable


Certifications


Completion of the CIC Courses within 6 month of hire


Experience


2+ years related experience required or preferred.




Wage Range

The wage range for this position is $32.00 - $46.99

HIRING TIME: Position is open until filled.

Immunizations required for employment, including COVID-19.
