Infection Control Nurse
Part-time, 20hrs/week

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the Infection Control program for all HopeWest services, including policy development, surveillance, and education to staff in all settings.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Ongoing surveillance of patients, participants, and staff for epidemiologically significant infections.
2. With support of the VP of Clinical Practice, develops policies and procedures for the prevention and control activities to decrease risk of infection among patients, participants, and staff in all settings.
3. Provides education and training to HopeWest staff on Infection Control practices and techniques, assuring thorough education of clinical and other applicable staff in caring for patients with specific infectious diseases, including isolation protocols and the appropriate use of PPE.
4. Serves as the primary contact for HopeWest staff when Infection Control questions or concerns arise.
5. Investigation of infections to identify potential of an outbreak or cross contamination.
6. Responsible for notification and reporting of infections as required – both internal to HopeWest and to local, state, and federal officials.
7. Assures the organization’s compliance with OSHA guidelines for a respiratory program.
8. Monitors employee Infection Control practices during a pandemic – provides training and consultation, sets up required testing, and monitors compliance with vaccine requirements.
9. Serves as a liaison and consultant on employee health issues, working with Human Resources staff and designated providers.
10. Provides education to new and current employees on Infection Control measures, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• RN with current Colorado licensure; BSN required
• An interest in Infection Control
• One year Hospice or three years of medical/surgical, oncology, or comparable hospital experience.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
• Adequate automobile insurance.
• Ability to set priorities and follow through.
• Good computer skills, especially Microsoft office products.
• Communicates effectively both written and verbal.

Pay and Benefits:

• Hiring range: $35.50-$38.00/hr
• Premium pay for BSN and bilingual fluency
• Mileage reimbursement of 60cents/mile for work related driving
