SUMMARY STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assist the Commissioner of Public Works and Department of Public Works (“DPW”) with managing small and large-scale park and Open Space improvement initiatives throughout the city, including public engagement around public spaces. Responsible for management of all municipal parks, trees, Open Space and manages grants supporting green infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field required
- Certification in landscape design or arboriculture/arborist highly desired.
Experience
Three (3) years of professional work related to park/fields management, landscape design, tree management, and/or grant management. Experience overseeing municipal operations highly desired.
Knowledge
- Ability to make decisions and find solutions to grounds, problems.
- Ability to prepare and manage budgets and schedules.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with the public, including individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Valid MA Class D motor vehicle operator’s license
- GIS experience is highly desirable.
