Park Program Specialist - Division Of Natural Resources - Kanawha Co.

Parks/South Charleston Office/ Kanawha County Under limited supervision, the employee in this position will be a member of the administrative and management team of West Virginia State Parks' central office with statewide authority. This employee will be responsible for being the state parks system's hospitality and brand ambassador, ensuring that the West Virginia State Park brand, its name, and logo is consistently utilized and that the highest levels of hospitality and customer service are maintained at all parks, forests and rail trail areas. This employee will also be responsible for ensuring that all web content existing on all state park web pages are kept current, relevant and perpetually up to date, including, but not necessarily limited to, seasonal activities, relevant park information, overnight accommodations, unique stays, operating hours, activities calendars, deals, offers, retail information, job vacancies, etc. This employee will serve as the DNR Parks and Recreation section liaison with Commerce Communications and the Department of Tourism, ensuring that all projects, collateral, press releases, blogs, signage, banners, restaurant menus, guest directories and in-room collateral, and displays, are correct, accurate, and reflect our accurate branding requirements. This employee will work very closely with District Park Administrators to ensure that all special events, notices, unforeseen closures, emergency situations, and any potentially newsworthy information is properly channeled to the appropriate administrative Agency personnel and those stakeholders outside the Agency. Further, this employee shall be lead coordinator, planner, and manager for all system-wide / agency level special large-scale park or DNR agency events that require both inter-Agency and intra-Agency coordination, thus ensuring that all current brand and quality standards are maintained at the highest level, and all event details covered including set-ups, tents, displays, food and beverage service, entertainment, speakers, hardware and software including coordination of internet connectivity, POS (point-of-sale) registers, imprest funds, retail merchandise, A/V equipment, vendors, exhibitors, public safety, and properly uniformed park personnel to staff the events. This employee shall also oversee the VIPP (Very Important Parks Person) program, Hiking Program, gilt-card sales program, annual season golf-pass program, and the Adopt-a-Trail program. Employee will offer mentoring and training to leadership of all WV State Parks on subject matter listed above. This employee must be willing to travel, including occasional overnight travel to various state parks and may be required to work during times of special events including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary. Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field.
AND
Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience working at a state park, in Natural Resources related field, in the tourism or travel industry, or in the environmental industry four (4) years of which must have been in responsible administrative or supervisory capacity.
