We are seeking a skilled individual to oversee the maintenance of plumbing systems within our park and athletic complex, ensuring the smooth operation of restrooms and drinking fountains. In addition, this role will involve the upkeep of swimming pool equipment, including components, plumbing lines, and filtration systems. Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Inspects, repairs, replaces, and maintains park drinking fountains including supply lines, drain lines, and points of connection. Inspects, repairs, replaces, and maintains park restroom plumbing components, drains, and fixtures.

Inspects, repairs, replaces, and maintains swimming pool pumps and filter equipment including connecting plumbing, drain lines, and components. Inspects, repairs, replaces, and maintains swimming pool fixtures, tiles, plaster, water slides, and related components. Coordinates work, inspection, and maintenance activities with the Recreation staff at multiple sites.

Performs state and local mandated testing and certification on plumbing and swimming pool backflow prevention devices. Assists in the reading and interpretation of architectural drawings, mechanical drawings, site plans, and structural drawings related to park plumbing and swimming pool projects. Assists others when required in design review and inspection of park plumbing and swimming pool projects.

Reviews new system designs and construction documents for compliance with department specifications and guidelines. Assists in the administration of Park Support plumbing and swimming pool contracts performed by outside contractors. May assist with department asset management program.

Makes entries or verifies entries made to maintain compliance with the department's work management system. Procures necessary supplies and equipment as needed for projects. Assists in response to resolution of internally and externally generated work orders, complaints, and inquiries.

Coordinates as required with other Park and City departments to effectively organize scheduled work and activities. May assist in the support and supervision of department and City sponsored special events as required. May lead the work activities of others.

Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential. Marginal Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Decisions: The incumbent must set and maintain work priorities and must determine the nature of pool and plumbing field problems and issues.

The incumbent must determine methods for pool and plumbing maintenance and repairs, and must evaluate compliance to codes and regulations. The incumbent evaluates on-site risks and determines appropriate courses of action to resolve and/or secure situations. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of: Commercial plumbing system maintenance, repairs, and installations; heavy and complex commercial swimming pool equipment, system maintenance, repairs, and operations; safety procedures, practices, and regulations; safety standards and methods required for connections to public water supplies; computer operations and standard office computer programs.

Skill in: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; analyzing and diagnosing field-related plumbing and swimming pool issues and malfunctions; using required tools and materials and to determine appropriate methods of repairs; maintaining and replacing plumbing system and swimming pool components; entering and compiling field into accurate and clear computer and written reports. Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Two (2) years of experience in plumbing system maintenance, repair, and installation and one (1) year of experience in maintaining or assisting in the maintenance of commercial swimming pool equipment systems, which includes experience maintaining backflow prevention devices.

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements. Licenses and Certifications: Texas Class C driver's license (must obtain within 30 days of hire per state law). Backflow Prevention license or obtained within one (1) year of date of hire.

Certified Pool Operator or obtained within one (1) year of date of hire. Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in and around City buildings, parks, medians & rights of way, to operate equipment and motor vehicles on terrain and streets; to operate equipment and motor vehicles around bystanders and dense crowds; strength, stamina and mobility to perform light to medium physical work and around machines, and to operate varied hand and power tools and specialized equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.

The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when completing maintenance, repairs, and various daily tasks.

Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull and pull materials and objects weighing up to 80 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment. Employees work in and around buildings and facilities and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
