Job description

The Parent Liaison’s primary responsibility is to maintain open and effective communication between the school and parents. The Parent Liaison will also be responsible for facilitating parent/teacher conferences, providing translation services, assisting the Orientation Teacher with home visits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively facilitate the communication between home and school by providing parents with the necessary information and support needed to ensure the success of their child in our program.
  • Display professionalism in written and oral communication skills when interfacing with employees, students, family members, and community leaders
  • Provide program information, policies, and procedures to our current and potential families, including translations for our ESOL parents and students.
  • Have a complete understanding of the resources that are available in our community for our parents and students; housing, transportation, food and clothing assistance, medical and dental care, and child care options.
  • Develop a method of collecting parent input and feedback regarding our program and any concerns.
  • Communicate parent feedback and concerns to the appropriate staff
  • Translate written materials; letters, notices, social media posts, flyers, community resources, etc and conduct regular Blackboard phone calls to inform our non-English speaking population.
  • Provide interpretation services in English and Spanish for parents, teachers, and administrators during parent/teacher conferences, school meetings, evening events, etc.
  • Effectively maintain accurate student records
  • Maintain accurate student records, including transcripts of parent notification and meetings.
  • Document all parent communication in STARS in the student contact logs.
  • Assist the staff in meeting or exceeding current FTE goals
  • Assist the Orientation Teacher with home visits to increase our retention rate.
  • Contact potential students to provide program information and answer any questions regarding the enrollment process.
  • Conduct home visits for potential students to assist with enrollment and answer parent questions.
  • Increase parent and family involvement in our school events
  • Collaborate with other staff to create opportunities for parents and families to become involved with our school, parent orientation, family information nights, parent and teacher conferences, family interactive events, college information nights, etc.
  • Contact parents and families through phone calls, emails, Blackboard calls, home visits and meetings at school to encourage participation in school activities and events.
  • Serve as a liaison to increase community involvement in our school
  • Collaborate with feeder school counselors to address any parent concerns and provide program information during parent meetings.
  • Attend community events to share the benefits of our program with various stakeholders and families
  • Educate our community and neighboring businesses about our program by sharing our school’s mission and goals.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned, which are aligned in accordance with company policy and procedures that ensures goals and objectives are achieved.

Job Requirements and Prerequisites:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for parent and/or community events
  • Must have a high degree of knowledge of general office and telephone equipment.
  • Must be computer literate with a high degree of knowledge and experience with Microsoft operating systems, i.e., Windows XP, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated computer literacy skills, and word processing abilities.
  • Bilingual in local area languages and Customer Service experience are preferred.
  • Understanding and prior use of the District’s MIS is as plus
  • Previous experience in a school working with at-risk youth is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
