Paralegal, Intellectual Property (Hybrid)
SUMMARY
The Patent Paralegal reports to Bracco's Chief U.S. IP Counsel and assists the Chief U.S. IP Counsel by helping to prepare, file and prosecute patent applications globally. Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining worldwide patent files, litigation, opposition and interference files and related files. Additionally, the Patent Paralegal will be responsible for assisting with worldwide prosecution and particularly with U.S., PCT and European patent prosecution forms, as well as docketing pertinent information for the worldwide portfolio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Prepare documents to assist the Chief U.S. IP Counsel by filing and prosecuting patent applications in the pharmaceutical field. The requirements include significant patent paralegal experience in preparing worldwide patent filings, pre-filing process, handling of pre-filing and post filing difficulties, docketing and tracking progress of prosecution and assisting Chief U.S. IP Counsel on substantive and procedure matters. The patent paralegal will also assist in identifying applications to file internationally and tracking progress of prosecution. Proactively and autonomously supports in-house patent litigation counsel and other legal professionals through all stages of US IP litigation matters, including interacting with external counsel and Global functional colleagues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEREQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree, minimum of three years patent experience, paralegal certificate or relevant work experience preferred.
- Experience with patent docketing software (such as CPI, FoundationIP, etc.) required.
- Experience with electronic filing and management of U.S. and PCT patent applications required.
- Experience in Pharmaceutical company is preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding and use of paralegal concepts and principles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comprehend, analyze, and digest legal opinions, legislation, regulations, and legal publications.
- Exercise initiative and sound judgment.
- Use legal terminology, prepare legal documents, and follow legal procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with an ability to work independently and to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and concepts of contract law.
