COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Secretaries and Assistants Association located on the DY website.

Allparaprofessionals must meet certification requirements as determined by the Every Student Succeeds Act. Individuals with an Associate's degree or higher, or who have obtained 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution, have met this requirement and will need to provide a copy of a transcript showing your highest degree earned. The finalpathway to meet this requirement is passing the Massachusetts ParaPro or Workkeys Assessment certification within the first year of employment. SUMMARY: Organizes and leads activities of school-aged children in before and after school child care programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Organizesandparticipatesingames, reads with children, provides the opportunities for various arts and crafts and homework help.
- Superviseschildren indoors and outdoors.
- Supervisesbreakfast and afternoon snacks routines.
- Communicateswith parents.
- Implimentsschool safety protocols for pickups and drop offs.
- Helpschildren develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away personal belongings.
- Know and implement developmentally appropriate interventions.
- Know the health and safety risks of children in the program.
- Maintainsprivacy and confidentiality of students.
- Sets a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
- Supportsthe toileting and daily living skills can be an essential function of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working as a teacher assistant, daycare provider, or school volunteer working with children preferred.
- Must be reliable, dependable, a team player, and flexible.
- Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
- Ability to carry out direction.
- CPR/First Aid training preferred.
