Summary
About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
  • Ensure surfaces at properly prepared for application of paint.
  • Perform inspection in conjunction with quality audits.
  • Conduct inspection for obvious damage to vehicle bodies.
  • Mix paint to required blend of color specified.
  • Paint surfaces such as vehicles, mobile equipment parts, and assemblies to ensure surfaces at protected.
  • Conduct visual inspection of vehicles for smoothness and complete coverage of paint application.
  • Interpret Technical Manuals for application parameters.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years and can be made permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years but cannot be made permanent.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made or extended at management discretion
  • Pre-employment/annual physical is required.
  • Required to handle, store, and dispose of hazardous material/waste.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment/clothing provided by the employer.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. or more in the performance of duties.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painter (Polyurea Operator/Inspector) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Painter (Polyurea Operator/Inspector) duties including applying coating materials to various vehicle assemblies or equipment. I can demonstrate mixing paint and how to inspect paint equipment and conduct final service preparation. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring/ uncomfortable positions. There is frequent use of fingers and reaching above shoulders height. Work is performed in walking, standing, kneeling positions with repeated bending occasionally. Climbing is required with use of arms and both legs. Sets up equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds, occasionally, may require heavy lifting more than 40 lbs.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside in hot, cold, humid, damp or chilling or dry atmosphere conditions. Exposed to constant noise, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, solvents, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy. Works on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, around objects and on vehicles, and ladders. Works closely with others or alone. Safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and protective clothing, and respiratory protection are required. Frequently exposed to cuts and bruises. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous materials/waste. Incumbent is also exposed to vapor and paint fumes.

Education
Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
