Abrasive Blaster/Metallizer/Painter

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to assist the welder as part of a team in completing work duties and perform construction, repairs, and general maintenance on the Brazos River Authority (BRA) dams. This is accomplished by performing all duties in a safe, secure, and productive manner including: sandblasting duties; operating the metalizing machine; applying protective coating for gate replacement; and assisting the welder with work duties and arc gouging. Other responsibilities include operating heavy equipment; operating the supply boat; performing scuba work; mowing; weed eating; operating chain saw; operating jackhammer; completing concrete work; and any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or field processes. The employee must have the ability to read and write basic English, perform simple arithmetic operations, and do simple data entry into a computer. The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with some direction when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Assignment is reviewed upon completion.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency or an equivalent combination of experience. At least 2 years of experience required.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: None. Diving Certification and Crane Operation Certification are preferred.

SALARY: $20.45 to $26.08 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.
