Paint Shop Lead Technical Support Engineer

Job Description
On - Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
The Role:
In this role your work will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to troubleshoot and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. In this position your use of independent discernment required. You will use substantial independent judgment in complex or unusual situations. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

• Directly manage a group of paint process engineers across 3 shifts in the Paint Shop, completing evaluations and coaching as required
• Ensure compliance to process controls plans and product standards
• You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
• You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
• Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
• You will provide Technical Support for specific plant operations
• You will interact on a regular basis with design, product and manufacturing engineering staffs
• Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors
• You will evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
• You will handle engineering projects with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs

Additional Job Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• Minimum 5 years of experience with paint process
• Thorough knowledge of Paint Shop tooling and manufacturing processes
• Experience in robotic applied painting
• Bachelors degree in engineering
• Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system
• Experience with Vehicle Assembly process equipment, knowledge of system engineering, software development & hardware integration
• Highly developed oral & written communication skills
• High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view & to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems
• Demonstrated ability to listen to & support Team Members
• Ability to work overtime and off-shift as needed

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• 5+ years of experience with paint process
• Project management leadership skills
• Highly developed knowledge of integration plant floor monitoring systems &/or simulation techniques
• Experience/knowledge of GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
• Experience working in a team environment
• Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and competitive Manufacturing Strategies
• Knowledge of and experience with Powder coatings systems
• Knowledge of and experience with Pre-treatment systems and Sealing automation
