The Paddle Sports Senior Technician is the first lateral promotion that can be achieved by a Technician and is the core person(s) in the repair and rental department. This position is available at any time for a Technician to apply for. To be qualified for this position, Senior Technicians must be able to show key rental, Easyrent, and repair skills. Senior Technicians are expected to be experts of their craft and be able to solve any repair inquiries independently. This position is able to resolve customer complaints independently and find win-win solutions. The Senior Technician is the right hand of their department Lead and responsible for backing up the leadership team on any decisions they make. They are the stewards of wisdom and knowledge in the repair and rental department and are expected to be leaders among their peers and foster growth in their department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be a cornerstone of knowledge in rental shop operations and fleet maintenance/repair.
- Perform advanced Easyrent functions: create staff Easyrent profiles, create/edit rental articles, inventory management, reporting, IT troubleshooting, and reservation management.
- Be able to facilitate the repair department operations and customer workflow.
- Be able to oversee any repair inquiries.
- This position must be able to operate all repair equipment/tools.
- Able to perform the following repair skills: wetsuit patch repair, kayak rudder installation, PVC inflatable kayak and SUP repair, fish finder installation, kayak fishing accessory installation, fiberglass canoe and kayak repair, roto molded plastic kayak welding, and epoxy repair and general fleet maintenance.
- Senior Technicians will be expected to make sure daily shop duties are being completed and be accountable for keeping the store clean and organized.
- Perform regular maintenance on all repair equipment.
- Perform maintenance and small improvement projects around the PSC.
- Be able to effectively train technicians repair and rental skills and help facilitate technicians to reach an expert skill level if desired.
- Work directly with the Team Leads to implement and uphold repair and rental department processes.
- Assess customer needs and offer the proper advice on repair services and rental equipment.
- Perform regular rental fleet and repair form audits to ensure that all Next Adventure equipment is functioning properly, and equipment meets Next Adventure’s high standards.
- Regularly monitor that all Technicians are using equipment properly and following safety protocols.
- Be able to work effectively on the retail floor as needed and meet the standards laid out for all entry level Associates.
- Perform basic Retail Pro functions: Inventory searches, cash register duties, creating customer profiles, and tag printing.
- *Scappoose Bay: Help to manage the organization of the dock, and make sure customers are being helped properly onto the water.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Next Adventure Technician or being able to demonstrate an expert level repair and rental knowledge.
- Able to perform any type of paddle sport repair.
- Able to operate repair department tools.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills.

- Ability to talk in depth about Paddle Sports gear.
